Hi! My name is Yuval and I love to travel. This blog isn’t a Lonely Plant style or “the must-sees in ____” type of blog. I want to share with the people in my life what I’m doing and where I’m doing it. I guess it is kind of like a public diary. So with that, here is a bit about me:
I grew up in Brandon, Florida with my mother, Lee, step-father, August, brothers, William and Cody, and sister, Danielle. I love my family and all the crazy things we put each other through. When we moved to Brandon, a central Hillsborough County town, in the early ’90s the highway was still just two lanes and there were more orange trees and cows than people. But with time comes change and Brandon is no exception. The highway expanded, Wal-Mart opened up, Winn-Dixie closed down and life around there changed. I love going back home and seeing all the changes (even though I complain about those changes every chance I get).
I knew I wanted to travel since I was in high school. At first, I would travel just for family vacations to visit my dad’s side of the family in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Then I slowly traveled to other states: Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky and Wisconsin. I volunteered with an organization that would have yearly meetings around the country so I went to Colorado, Arizona, and Illinois. When I made it to college, it brought with it New York, Maine, Texas, Minnesota, Virginia, Washington D.C.
I have developed an addiction for travel and I promised myself that by the age of thirty five, I will volunteer on all 7 continents. As of 2012, I have succeeded at 5. Of course, being that I’m from the US, North America was the first. Oceania was second with Papua New Guinea. Continent number three was South America with Ecuador. Number four was Europe with Spain. And I am now on continent number five – Asia with Israel.
The Traveler’s Prayer
May it be Your will, Eternal One, our God and the God of our ancestors,
that You lead us toward peace, emplace our footsteps towards peace,
guide us toward peace, and make us reach our desired destination for life, gladness, and peace.
May You rescue us from the hand of every foe, ambush, bandits and wild animals along the way,
and from all manner of punishments that assemble to come to Earth. May You send blessing in
our every handiwork, and grant us peace, kindness, and mercy in your eyes and in the eyes of all
who see us. May You hear the sound of our supplication, because You are the God who hears
prayer and supplications. Blessed are You, Eternal One, who hears prayer.
